GaDOE
Summer 2010 Math Course Offer
The GaDOE is offering 100 free seats in each of the following four PBS TeacherLine online courses for GA public school educators!
NOTE:
At this time, the only seats remaining in the courses are due to previous enrollees who've since dropped their courses. You can check for new openings, and enroll, up until Friday, July 2nd, at midnight.
The courses will be delivered entirely online and they will run for six weeks, from June 30th to August 10th, 2010.
Click on the Course ID to jump down the page to learn more about the course.
- MATH250 Understanding Numbers and Operations: Addition and Subtraction in Grades PreK-3
- MATH270 Developing Algebraic Thinking in Grades 3-5
- MATH430 Seeing Math™: Proportional Reasoning (Gr 6-12)
- MATH445 Seeing Math™: Quadratic Equations (Gr 9-12)
Prospective course learners, please note the following important information:
- You must be a current GA public school educator in order to participate in this free course offer.
- You may only take one free course per this offer.
- The courses are delivered entirely online so reliable internet access is a must.
- The courses will run for 6 weeks, beginning on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, and ending on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
- Weekly participation is required as follows:
- Each week's course assignments are due that week; they cannot be done in advance or after the week's period. Assignments are released on Wednesdays and are due by the following Tuesday.
- There are no required log-on times for the weekly assignments, however learners must participate in their course's discussion board at least 3 times throughout the week as follows: at least once within days 1-3 of the course week, at least once within days 3-5 of the course week, and at least once within days 5-7 of the course week.
- TeacherLine courses are graduate level and learners should plan on spending roughly 6 hours each week on course work. Failure to complete assignments and/or participate in weekly discussion board topics will result in a failing grade.
- You will not be able to pass your course if you are 'absent' for more than 6 days.
- Each course is a 30 instructional hour course worth 3 GA PLU credits. The courses may be taken for two hours of graduate credit instead, however the fee for graduate credit is not covered by the GaDOE.
- Prospective learners must review the TeacherLine Southeast "Frequently-Asked-Questions" page for additional important information.
- To enroll in a funded course, follow the enrollment steps below.
