ISTE Capstone Certificate Program:
PBS TeacherLine partners with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to certify teachers who lead the way in the classroom technology integration. The PBS Capstone Program has earned FULL alignment to all the ISTE NETS*T 2008 standards for our PBS TeacherLine / ISTE Capstone Certificate Program. We are the ONLY organization to be fully aligned to both the Seal of Alignment for Development and the Seal of Alignment for Assessment!
Learners who successfully complete the program receive a joint certificate from ISTE and PBS TeacherLine, certifying their proficiency in ISTE NETS*T standards.
This research-based, online professional development program empowers you to achieve the following:
- Demonstrate your mastery of ISTE's National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS*T);
- Earn recognized certification in technology integration;
- Build a community of support for technology integration.
Program participants engage in the following activities:
- Identify relevant research about technology and learning;
- Develop a multimedia portfolio of projects that demonstrate technical standards in classroom situations;
- Exchange ideas and strategies with other program participants;
- Interact with a coach who provides guidance and feedback.
The Capstone Program:
- Tech 401: Capstone Introduction: Planning a Technology Portfolio (syllabus)
This course is a prerequisite for anyone interested in pursuing the Capstone Certification program, and is perfect for educational innovators who are excited about digital technology. Through readings, examination of their own teaching practices and the ISTE NETS*T, and exploration of available technologies, learners will increase their understanding of, and comfort with, the NETS*T and their practical applications in the classroom. Learners must successfully complete this course before moving on to Capstone 1.
- Tech 410: Capstone I: Developing a NETS*T Technology Portfolio (syllabus)
In this 12-week course you will deepen your thinking about effective teaching with technology. Learn how to collaborate to create a digital portfolio demonstrating the 2008 NETS*T incorporating lessons or projects that exemplify effective use of technology.
Capstone I is a prerequisite for enrollment in Capstone II.
- Tech 415: Capstone II: Proficient Use of Technology with the NETS*T (syllabus)
Through collaboration with other course participants, explore research and methods to facilitate authentic classroom learning using current and emerging digital tools. In this 12-week course, learners will expand their portfolio created in Capstone I to demonstrate the 2008 NETS*T at advanced levels.
